Breast cancer is one of the most widespread cancers and by doing a mammogram, eligible women can detect this form of cancer in its early stages and receive treatment.
The Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) is a comprehensive, organized breast cancer-screening program. Its mission is to reduce mortality from breast cancer by delivering high quality breast screening to Ontario women between the ages of 50 and 74.
Women eligible for screening in the OBSP include:
- Ontario residents
- 50 years of age or older
- no acute breast symptoms
- no personal history of breast cancer
- have not had a mammogram in the past 12 months
- no history of breast implants
Women aged 50-74 with no history of breast cancer should have a mammogram every 1-3 years. Please call the Ontario Breast Screening Program in Sudbury at 1-800-661-8897 to book an appointment, or speak with your family physician for more information.
